When Jesus was accused by the pharisees for claiming to be the Messiah. The pharisees thought the Messiah was supposed to overthrow the Roman empire. Jesus responded with scripture proving He was the Messiah. He quoted "The volume of the scripture is speaking of me." Psalms 40:7, And "I am the way, the truth, and the light." John 14:6.JN 10:25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and you do not believe; the works that I do in My Fathers name, these testify of. We should also quote scripture in times of opposition as it will help us triumph. Sharing God's word in public can be difficult, some people will be open to change while others will scoff.
Another thing that Jesus did when he was being opposed and accused He prayed. We should also pray that the Holy spirit will come down upon us and give us the strength to deal with the persecution.
Other times Jesus would use a metaphor to combat the pharisees accusations. The Metaphors would often confuse the pharisees into tripping over there own two feet. In modern times I would not suggest using metaphors because it sounds ridiculous and will turn away most people. Using the same methods as Jesus (aside from metaphors) will be a great success in sharing His word and standing up for our faith.
